I don't remember where I found it. Probably someone's signature on a forum, or 4chan, but it has lived in my brain rent-free ever since. Apparently it originates from an article Jared Diamond wrote for Discover Magazine in 1985 (according to a creationist website that called the article a "groaner" and "baloney"). Quotes.txt has lived on, passed from PC to PC, as a tiny museum to the greatest quote I've ever read.

By the time I came across this quote my online alias was long decided, but I've always wanted to use God Squid as something. This space is my opportunity to finally let it escape Quotes.txt, and a bit of a do-over for me.
